Match Report
After a hard battle, Panorama lost in the second round of the cup 4-3 to Durban United, a team playing a league above. It was an entertaining match but unfortunately Durban United finish on top after getting a huge fright against a team who was supposed to simply let them win.
With Wills and Stoychev missing, the team as usual was completely re-invented. Mosima took the role of the captain while Peters and DuPont joined the team for this game. The start was all Panorama, and after missing 2 chances, they scored the first goal: from a free throw Olgiati stopped the ball and passed it to Almeida who turned like a ballerina to hit the ball just under the bar. It was Almeida first goal in many, many years after a lenghthy period of injury.
Panorama dominated the exchange, letting Durban United play and attacking them on the counter-attack. Olgiati had a good chance from 30 meters, but his shot was saved by the keeper. Rogers worked hard and got close twice. But, like so many times this season, Durban United scored thanks to a lucky goal (a short kick by Peters bounced off the opposite striker's knee and lobbed Mnguni).
In the second half was more of the same: Durban United tried to play the ball from the back (when Olgiati and Louw kept tackling the impossible), and with the introduction of Swanepoel the attacking options multiplied. If was Swanepoel who find the goal around the hour: from a corner Mosima managed to keep the ball in play and Swanepoel hit the ball first touch in the corner.
But just like in the first half, Panorama let a second goal in with minutes to spare, through a possible offside that the referee didn't see.
The extra time started very bad: in the first 20 seconds Durban scored when Panorama failed to tackle on the right side. Panorama fought to get a goal back but Durban scored yet another goal similar to the previous.
The fight didn't stop there. Rosolen had a cracker from 30 meters but was unlucky, and, from a Peters' freekick, Olgiati hit the ball before it bounced to score the 3-4, but it was too late.
It was a good game, with such a devastating ending for Panorama!
