Match Report
With 7 players out, Panorama was forced once again to introducte new players, this time another youngster (Lunga Zwani) who was given a tough first senior game. After losing the keepers for different reasons, they were forced to play Soombur in goals.
On an unplayable field (the conditions of the fields in the South are often horrendous: lack of clearly demarked lines, lack of corner flags, lack of grass) Panorama struggled to play the ball and had to face a team that knew the limitations of gameplays available on the home ground and clearly play aroud them.
The first goal was a classical example: after some sustained pressure from Panorama, Southampton manage to kick the ball away and after few lucky bounces they scored the 1-0. The 2-0 came soon after. Lunga and Williams tried to run and combine, but the task was maybe too big for the youngsters.
Panorama, with only 11 players, attacked but never really got close to the goals. Louw, after a fighting contest in the middle, connected beautifully from a great corner from Stoychev (returning in action after 3 weeks in Europe) to score the 1-2. But it was too late. A misunderstanding between Soombur and Morris gave Southampton the 3-1 lead.
In the last 10 minutes Panorama got close to score: first Olgiati was brought down while running towards the goals (should have been a red card), the Almeida, now playing in a more attacking role, was tackled at the last moment in front of the keeper, and again Almeida's pass to Olgiati (near the goals) was nullified by a non-existent offside.
The whole team played with heart but it wasn't enough. Another unlucky defeat in a season of great expectations.
