Match Report
With a limited amount of players available, Panorama faced Stars of Africa knowing that only a focused game could prevent a defeatagainst the strong opponent. With the referee missing in action, rules dictated that Stars of Africa, the guests, would select a refereee of their choice.
Panorama started strong, thanks to a high pressing of Keanu Du Plessis and Soombur on the wings, helped my Bassnet and the whole midfield. With Stars of Africa playing the usual passing game, they couldn't find spaces and they relied on uneffective long balls. Unfortunately around the half hour Atkinson, who provided a great level of solidity, got injured, and Panorama had to re-shift the team, calling Tyrone Du Plessis in central defense, and moving back Soombur as left back, with Pyrotis playing wide left.
Unfortunately the change in formation, that played so tight in the first half, change the balance of the game, with Stars of Africa scoring 2 goals in the last 5 minutes of the first half.
In the second half some shocking decision by the referee let Stars of Africa scoring 2 goals in quick succession, and with the bad behaved Stars of Africa bench, soon the referee lost totaly control of the game. Panorama was close on walking away in disgust during a second half when, where the lungs couldn't cope anymore with the running, the referee decided to stop calling offsides to prevent goals.
The only good note of the day was Bassnet goal, a great header from a fantastic corner delivery by Stoychev. It was little consolation but Panorama showed that, with a full team and with less injury in a cursed season (Almeida, Swanepoel, Ivings, McGann, Buys and Reis were still out) they could have had much better times...
