Match Report
After a 4 weeks break Panorama players found themselves together for the first time in 30 days to play against Dainfern.
Without the two keepers (both injured), Pretorius offered himself to play in goal in a tricky game. Panorama started strong, playing a very high line and with the central pairing of Atkinson and Gildenhuys dominating and nullifying all the Dainfern's effort.
Panorama should have been up twice within the first 10 minutes, when Bassnet (inspired by Olgiati and Stoychev) found himself twice one on one against the keeper but failed to convert.
But the pressure was too high for Dainfern and eventually Soombur unleashed an intelligent cross that Bassnet just had to convert in the net. Soon after Panorama found the 2-0, thanks to an intelligent 60 meter opening by Olgiati that landed on Trinidade's feet, who was able to convert from a tight angle.
In the second half a tired Wills was replaced by Du Plessis, going wide left, while Stoychev provided the essential running next to Olgiati in the midfield. Swanepoel then found a through pass for Bassnet, who slotted it from 3 years.
With Reis and Ivings replacing Swanepoel and Bassnet, Panorama switched to a 4-5-1, controlling the game with ease. The only few times that Dainfern had a chance to score it was Pretorius who denied them with last seconds miracles.
Playing a very high line for most of the second half, Panorama was free to attack, and once again on a counter attack Keanu Du Plessis found Ivings who converted after coming off the bench.
There was still time for one last goal, this time scored by Stoychev, who converted with his speciality: directly from a corner (he previously hit the bar from a 30 meter free kick).
Panorama ended the game on a high spirit. The whole team battled away the rustiness after a month of relaxation, and in particular the back line of Du Plessis, Soombur, Atkinson and Gildenhous was superlative, helped by a man of the match Pretorius who showed no fear.
Is maybe the disappointing winter behind us? We will see next week, when Panorama will play second-placed Bryanston Warriors at home!
