Match Report
Panorama finished the season in similar style to 2012, with a convincing victory against Randburg, who ended up the season at the bottom of the log.
Starting with a 4-4-2 that soon translated in a 4-3-3, Panorama dominated the early exchange, getting close to score with Olgiati (who hit the post after 5 minutes) and Ivings. Bassnet had few chances but was caught in the offside trap too many times.
The match felt more like a friendly, with plenty of basic mistakes on both sides and a slow pace, but Randburg was lucky to escape the first half without conceding goals.
In the second half Panorama decided to keep pressing, playing ad adventurous 4-2-4, with man-of-the-match Reis taking control of the midfield while pretty much everyone else launched in the attack (at certain points during the game the module became a 3-2-5...).
Panorama had a great chance to score when Keanu DuPlessis was fouled in the area. Stoychev unfortunately ended his 100% career record by failing to convert the penalty, who was saved by the Randburg keeper. Moments later Wills saved a sure goal by sprinting on the ball and cleaning it just outside the line.
Sethole replaced Basnet and Soombur played as a solitary advanced striker. It was the move that changed the game. With the first attack Soombur launched himself on a long ball played by Reis beat defender and keeper for the 1-0. 10 minutes later Reis managed to combine with Ivings in the area and gently lobbed the keeper for the 2-0.
After few more chances (and with Pretorius taking care of the only danger, with Tyrone DuPlessis and Gildenhuys containing the few Randburg's attacks), it was finally time for captain Wills to score his first goal of the season with a swift move: Reis won a ball in the air, Wills passed it to Olgiati and kept running past him, and Olgiati lobbed the last defender so give the ball back to Wills, who beat the keeper and scored the final goal of the season.
It was a nice way to end the season, on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The results took Panorama to a 50% win record (8 wins, 8 defeats) and a relatively safe mid-table position.
