My experience at the event:
After some good race under the sun, we started 2013 under heavy rains. In a very wet weekend we had three new partners in crime competing in the race with the usual duo (Jill and I): Andy (10km) and Lindsey and her sister, Kirsten, doing a 5km.
Since we switched to Sunday races (Saturday races are in Pretoria, Sunday races in Johannesburg), it was a new course for us. The Bobbies, organized by the local police, started from Mayfair and developed around the dodgy suburbs surrounding the area.
The course wasn't too difficult, but it had a massive dip (downhill + hill) in the middle of the race which, surely not helped by the conditions (strong winds and rain), added to the difficulty.
My final time was decent, a 48.23 (any results under 50 is ok), considered the heavyiness of my body in football pre-season, and the weather. Andy finished maybe 10 minutes after me, and Jill finished some minutes above the hour. Both Kirsten and Lindsey finished their short distance race in a good time, so overall for our team it was a great day!
