Fading Football Dreams - 25 April 2004

Sad sunday of passion.

The best display this season, but the worst ending.

From the official Parson's Green FC website:

Parson's Green secured a comfortable victory, but saw hopes of finishing 2nd evaporate at Richardson Evans on a mild Sunday Morning.
A wonder-goal by David Andrews couldn't raise the spirits as Parson's Green stood and watched Real Mona sneak a last-gasp winner against Lusitanos on the next pitch to ensure Parson's Green couldn't catch them.
With Deportiva not in action, Real Mona have pulled 5 points clear of Parson's Green, with only 3 points left to play for.

Only 12 months ago we were in heaven, thanks to two last-minutes goals from Craig Goddard who gave us the first place in the league and the second promotion in a row. After a good start, this season, we thought we could get an amazing third promotion in just three years. We didn't. We just have to blame ourselves, unfortunately.

It was a sad Sunday. We won 4-0 against Bombarralense, with a very good team display, and we watched, on the next pitch, Real Mona playing against Lusitanos, cause they started after us. We believed in a miracle, but, this time, it didn't happen. That's life, isn't it? Last year we did it, in a sort of incredible way, this year we've been just close.
Shit.
