My experience at the event:
I don't really like charity events like this one (on Women's day, mostly to support the fight against Breast Cancer I think), because the whole mixed walkers / runners starting field is always a mess. The amount of walkers (especially if there is an easy 5km available) is always overwhelming, and for some strange custom they always seem to start in the front, blocking the ways for a quick first kilometers.
When you meet the walking mamas (large black ladies) chatting and walking while holding the field with their horizontal alignment, all you can do is try to squeeze between their hips to avoid running the 1st km in more than 10 minutes.
In a nice winter morning, with a knee that doesn't seem to get any better, I ended up with a decent time, considered that to run the first 1000 meters it took me almost 7 minutes!
The course was easy (only two long hills) , and, thanks to the 5km split, the second half was much quicker on an almost empty road. I finished in a doog time, 20 seconds better than last year, even if I could have probably do better if I didn't slow down (pain in the knee) around the 6th kilometers.
