My experience at the event:

I was supposed to run the 21km with Jill, my usual running buddy (she's training definitely harder than me for the 32km Tough One for next month), but after going to bed way too late (we had the Panorama Dinner Dance), I settle for the 10km. 
It doesn't happen often to run a race in your "backyeard", but with a start less than 2km from my home, and a route that touched 60% of my usual training roads, it was an ideal race to test my injured legs. My achilles tendon has been giving me trouble for the past month or so, so I decided to strap it and run at a decent pace, but without pushing too hard on the various gentle hills.

The final time was below the 50 minutes (which I consider these days the barely minimum!), and then I simply walked home for a deserved breakfast, waiting for Jill to arrive after she managed to get a very good 2.18 on the 21km course!
