My experience at the event:

With winter finally over, and after having accumulated a lot of kgs of fat during 2 months were I kept going mostly injured, it was time to get back into the running spirit, in the hope of getting ready for the 50km (City 2 city) at the end of September.

After involving my usual companion Andy, we showed up at Wanderers for a late 7am start, with the sun already showing up on the route. My strategy was to push the first 10kms, and see from there how all would go. The course was ideal for a decent time, with some short hills followed by long downhills. The plan worked well, and I ended up pushing to finish under 1.50 (which was my goal, my hope is to go back at 1.45 once I lose some weight). Andy finished after me just above the 2 hours mark, but as a first official running race after the Comrades, it was a decent result
