Running a 5km used to be more like a traning session. These days, following a sequence of annoying injuries, it was a nice way to see if I can still run at a decent speed. Even if the distance wasn't measured correctly (it was probably more around 6km that 5km, and most of the 10km runners moaned about their time as well), it was a good run. I mostly raced with Curtis, Jill's boyfriend, who is a much more natural runner than me. He kept a very good tempo for a good 80% of the race before collapsing in front of the last hill (every time we run around Pretoria the course is always very tough). I kept my cruising speed and I finished within the 30 minutes mark, just like I wanted. Now hopefully I will be able to build up from here and get back on the proper distances, like 10km / 21km, hoping to get enough energy in the future to finally run another marathon after my 10th and last 2 years ago...
