Of all the races I run in one year, I found that the Wally Hayward Memorial (dedicated to their incredible long distant runner from a different period of history) is one of the best organized. Plenty of parking, plenty of marshals in the road, nice facilities and a free massage tent full of chiropractors from the University of Johannesburg, which always helps after a race.
As usual in the football season, I completed only the 5km race, with a quite good time, knowing that few hours later I had to play a football game, I decided to not risk a longer distance.
So it was more like a competitive warm up, and the massage at the end helped to loose those injured muscles just in time for the afternoon's game...
